We take IT/Dev Connections pretty seriously, and work each year to improve and align the content with both the industry and what IT Pros and Developers have told us that they need. In keeping with that, this year we’re making another big change.

I’ll be talking more about this as the weeks move forward, but today I’d like to just introduce you to the content tracks for IT/Dev Connections 2018. I’ll also be introducing you to our Track Chairs for the 2018 event shortly and then we’ll be kicking off the Call for Content (CFC) in the next week or so. But, today, I want to share our 2018 tracks – and what we refer to as the Four Pillars of the tech industry. These “pillars,” or content buckets, accurately represent what each IT Pro and Developer is faced with supporting in the business world today. There are many conferences out there, but frankly, they are all pretty much the same and cover the same products in exactly the same way. We strive to be different and as I talk more about our content tracks over the next few blog posts – believe me – you’ll come to appreciate that fact more and more. We’re not a product marketing or product support conference. IT/Dev Connections is a community-based and driven conference that delivers true education required to solve all problems instead of a just a few problems for a couple products from a single vendor.

Incidentally, we will also have some non-technical tracks this year, including a community track, a professional track, and a solutions track.

IT/Dev Connections 2018 offers four technical content tracks designed to provide attendees with a well-rounded set of deep dive learning opportunities as well as key insights into the future of development and IT operations within each track. Each track includes sessions on supporting, developing, and managing apps and users. Each also features sessions aimed at understanding architectural issues in the near term, and the next gen strategy looking out five years or more.

The technical content tracks for 2018 are:

CLOUD PLATFORM – The Cloud Platform track provides IT Pros and datacenter managers with a view into the skills and tools needed to manage a hybrid cloud infrastructure. Delivering a reliable and secure that spans on-premises and public cloud requires a new way of thinking about IT. Our speakers understand the importance of threading cloud technologies into the existing infrastructure to ensure a reliable, and scalable platform that meets current and future needs. In these sessions, attendees will learn when to incorporate public cloud services and when not to, ensuring the best mix for the business needs, and end-users wants. In addition to diving deep into the available cloud-based technologies, attendees will learn how to troubleshoot and resolve problems from the most common to the most frustrating.

DATA PLATFORM – Our data track focuses on the needs of data management professionals who are tasked with delivering business-actionable insights from the growing mass of data all organizations now have. Sessions offered in the Data Platform track provide these professionals with the insights required to manage large amounts of data, and data services able to meet the needs of many users across multiple clouds. Attendees will learn how to scale, manage, secure, and monitor database resources to ensure data integrity, business functionality, and accessibility from anywhere. Data is the cornerstone of today’s technologies. It supplies insights to corporations, health service providers and governments alike. The Data Platform track delivers deep-dives into approaches to today’s challenges and provides insights into the trends that will be business differentiators in coming years.

DEVELOPER PLATFORM – The developer track covers a mix of the latest and greatest development technologies, tools, and frameworks. Our speakers are well-versed in solutions that work across different OS and cloud platforms and that help deliver conduits to data and functionality available in the cloud. Our Developer Platform track continues to be one of the most popular tracks at IT/Dev Connections. It offers deep and instructive insight into current developer tools with a focus on those that aid in solving today’s cross-platform problems. Our sessions are designed to help developers keep abreast of the latest trends in tools and coding.

SECURITY PLATFORM – Through development, training, outsourcing and implementation of technology, companies are continually working to secure their infrastructure, software, and data. While security threads throughout all IT/Dev Connections sessions, the Security track focuses on the methods and technologies available to better secure operations against intrusions and attacks. We highlight the security topics that are most important to hybrid infrastructures, allowing security engineers to go deeper, and general administrators to develop a more well-rounded understanding of security strategies. Our instructors understand that pervasive access to company data and applications is the lifeblood of today’s business. They’ll help security professionals understand how keep users and customers productive while keeping data safe.
